Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
- Familiarize yourself with the various methods that are available today to determine location positioning.
- Describe the components, features, and functionality of the Cisco Location Appliance solution.
- Integrate the Location Appliance with the Wireless Control System (WCS) to provide a platform capable of location tracking.
- Identify the different types of location tags and understand what types can be used with the Cisco Location Solution.
- Configure the administrative aspects of the Location Appliance.
- Set polling parameters with an understanding of the storage ramifications and disk usage on the Location Appliance.
- Identify the unique deployment requirements for implementing Location Based Services and implement a best practices approach to the design and deployment of such a wireless network.
- Perform a calibration and identify situations when a re-calibration may be necessary.
- Familiarize yourself with partner applications that integrate with the Cisco Location Appliance using the Location Appliance API.
Cisco Wireless Location Based Services (CWLBS) is an instructor-led course, training partners to their end-user customers. This training session is a four-day instructor-led technical course that provides an in-depth understanding of the Location Appliance and its use to implement Location Based Services. This course focuses on key system components, including terminology, features, architecture and protocol functionality. You will gain hands on experience planning, deploying and tuning a wireless infrastructure capable of providing Location Based Services.
Module 1: Location overview
Understanding RTLS key concepts, such as Cell of Origin, Angulation (AoA), Lateration (ToA, TdoA, RSS), location patterning and FR fingerprinting, RFID active and passive tags.
Module 2: Location appliance features, specs & architecture
Description of the different components, how they interact and interconnect. Lab on this
Module 3: Integrating location appliance with WCS
Primary configuration of the location appliance, installation and configuration of WCS, integration of location appliance to WCS.
Module 4: Deploying a location capable infrastructure
Using planning tool, setting up thresholds, placing access points, using calibration.
Module 5 : Advanced configuration and location readiness
Optimizing location appliance, using WCS advanced parameters, using location planning tool, location readiness tool and location inspection.
