Course Description

The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) focuses heavily on solving your current business and IT needs. This course presents state-of-the 3D scaling technology to help you significantly reduce IT deployment times while gaining business agility.

Explore the new features of the VSP Storage Navigator 2 such as interface, wizards, task management, and reporting.

Get practical experience in hands-on labs which include managing storage allocation, conducting manual provisioning, configuring monitoring performance and usage.

Obtain a comprehensive overview the software operations and hardware architecture of the VSP.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:

  • List the distinct hardware components in the VSP
  • Describe unique behaviours of the physical components
  • Identify the DKC and DKU components that make up a VSP
  • Identify customer problems and requirements that may be addressed by solutions based on Hitachi Data Systems Enterprise storage systems and software
  • List and describe the Hitachi Basic Operating System (BOS) software and key software product offerings available on the Enterprise systems
  • Describe the new features of the Hitachi Storage Navigator 2
  • Create user accounts for performing a variety of roles, place users in multiple roles or move users to a different role
  • Provision storage including LDEV creation, custom volumes and LUSE
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage tasks
  • Configure hosts and ports in preparation for volume access
  • Describe the cache partitioning functionality in the VSP
  • Describe the Dynamic Cache Residency feature, its benefits and guidelines
  • Describe and use system-wide performance monitoring
